You own that site? Oh, wow... I didn't realize that was you ^^;; Thank you for the invitation... I'll try to post a little more : )

*blush*  shhhhh!  Yes I do.  I tend not to talk to much about it here cause the research/site isn't exactly crafty :]

Are they really made of synthetic hair?? the "youngest" one I have is 15 years... if any of them are sythentic I didn't even realize it. I was thinking about taking it down and using it as a base for a Japanese Princess wig, but I wouldn't even know where to start with that. I won a Juni Hitoe set some time ago off of ebay (after searching for what seemed like forever..) and I do a lot of performances with my kimono. I would like to incorporate that particular costume in, but I think it would look a little odd with a modern hairstyle ^^;;

A lot of the newer style wedding ones are synthetic.  15 years ago - it is probably real hair.  It is kinda hard to tell - but, if I get desperate enough - I'll just get one and deal with it!  urgh!  Are you talking about the Juni Hitoe set that Ichiroya listed on ebay?  WOW!  Lucky you!  My friend Yoshiko-san (she is the koto player of my taiko group) is bugging me to make a Juni Hitoe after seeing the tayuu costume - and seeing pictures of all the individual pictures of that set was really cool!  Have you dressed in it yet?  You know, I did find a website a while ago that sells wigs (a Western website - not Japanese) and they had a long straight wig there that I was considering purchasing, if I make the Juni Hitoe - if i can find the website again, I'll send it to you.

What sort of performances do you do...? I was looking around here on Craftster and I saw that amazing Tayuu costume you put together. I'm very impressed : )

Right now, I am a student of taiko with my local group www.fushudaiko.com.  I personally don't perform on stage - although, my husband is in the professional performer group as an apprentice - so he is always performing :]  I help make the costume of the dancer (hence the tayuu costume, etc) and this year - I'm hoping to not be too shy, and to jump in and do performances myself. :]

What about you - you say you wear your kimono in many of your performances?  I am curious now! :]

Hee thank you very much Cheesy Thats so kind of you.

Actually, my hair is just barely long enough to be pulled into a pony tail.... but I'm going to make more of these flowers and attach them to little hair clips so I can wear them. It really isn't that hard to make them, just time consuming. I must have sat there for five hours just doing nothing but watching movies and folding paper. ><

Yes, I collect kimono : ) It's somewhat of a passion of mine. Get me going, I'll never stop I swear!! Theres lots of places you can get them, if you use ebay you can find litterally hundreds of kimono for good prices. My favorite kimono place though is Ichiroya.com. I'm friends with the owners and they are just wonderful people. If you're looking for something in particular, you can always email them and ask if they have it or if they can find it for you. I think one of the things that pulls me in is that every kimono is unique, and they all have a story. Not to mention, there is always something new to learn... every time I learn a new obi style I just have a party. Makes me so happy!

Ok, I'll quit that. Btw, you're into Jrock? I used to be a huge, huge fan of it. Who is your favorite band?
My favourite band is Dir en Grey, my first jrock love  Smiley Wow, I'll have to check out that site, thanks so much for giving me the link! I still look at your kanzashi every once in a while for eyecandy! XD

: ) Ok, I tell you what. Tomorrow I have to go to the stable (I volunteer at my friend's stable in return for being able to be around some of the most amazing creatures on this green earth) but if I have time when I get home I'll get a photo tutorial together. If I can't tomorrow, I will most definately by friday!

Ayame - Dir en grey is cool (Shinya is such a doll...) but Shazna was always my favorite : ) I <3 Izam. And... wow, what a compliment. Thank you : ) I'm having a great night tonight, and that just added on.

I love it! If I could make something like that, I could actually do something with my hair.
