I love dressing up as something different and funny for Halloween because I love making people laugh.  Grin I was trying to think of something to be when Hello Kitty came to mind. Then I had to figure out how the heck I was going to pull it off.

First I began to work on the head. I didn't want a complete mask because I feel way too uncomfortable in those. So I made sort of a hoodie/big giant stuffed kitty head. She's made out of a soft white fabric and felt.... and a LOT of stuffing!

I bought a red jumper off of Ebay, but it was hideous and I had to alter it a lot. I had to unstitch below the bust and completely re-sew it. Then I shortened it about three inches. I made yellow buttons out of polymer clay. Throw in a blue t-shirt, white tights and gloves... and voila! Hello Kitty!

My nephew and I. I put his costume together with thrift store finds. I had to dye the pants and vest. I did his hair and makeup as well.

We both got a lot of attention for our costumes.  Grin Also... even though I'm 23, I was able to trick or treat because I guess I look younger, and people appreciated that I made my own costume. I wasn't planning on trick or treating, but my other nephew refused to dress up, and people wouldn't give him candy... so I took his bag and did it myself. Tongue

I could hear people on the other end of the street saying "Oh my gosh, look! It's Hello Kitty!" People opening their doors would burst into laughter when they saw me standing there with my huge kitty head, lol. One lady apologized because she was laughing hysterically.

Mission accomplished!  Wink

Thanks everyone!  Grin

I would just get so bummed out if I ran into someone wearing the same costume as me... so I always try to do something different. I searched for Hello Kitty costumes and couldn't find any... which was awesome! I didn't see any other Hello Kitty's and my neighborhood is big with trick or treaters. We get hundreds of kids.

I'm already trying to decide what I should do next year!
