Okay..so I made this last night in like 4 hours ( it doesn't look like it should have taken me that long but hey, I suck at sewing lmao).

ANyway, my office decided to dress up and I was like I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!! then I decided "Hey I'll make a smurfette costume!". I had been babbling about that being a cool idea to dress up as her.

ANyway, I went to Walmart...bought some white sweatshirt material, yellow flannel, white felt, blue tights and a blue henley shirt....and..

VOILA...

I look wide as heck...I'm built wide up top (shoulders rib, built like a linebacker basically)....and it doesn't help that I made the dress too big (better than too small) and the fact that its a WHOLE TON OF WHITE.. And this sweatshirt material doesn't really drape. it just hits your widest point and sticks out like its super starched. I'm making tons of excuses I know. hahaha

Anyway I like it. :p. I feel a little ridiculous going out in public like this.  I havent dressed up in YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAARS.

anyway...Im proud of myself. I'm going to make alterations to it for next year. HOpefully I'll get my hands on a dress form soon so I get make it a better fit. Smiley Tongue

that looks great, smurfs are hard to pull off. believe me. i am old enough to remember when classmates were coming in with homemade smurf  costumes and scary blue greasepaint faces lol Don't go for the "blue man group" effect, it's creepy - just be "Caucasion Smurf" lol You look great in the pix, have fun Smiley

I've loved the smurfs ever since I was little (that was a LOOOOOONG time ago lol) and when they were on Saturday morning Cartoons. (What happened to those wonderful days?). but I never thought to dress up as one. Ive always loved the smurfs though.

and yeah, I couldn't deal with the face paint. I was like "TOOOOO MESSSY" "TOOOO INVOLVED". I figured people would get the idea with the blue tights and smurf hat.

ANyway, thank you!!!!
