I have been surfing for days for a knit dress or jumper pattern for a beginning knitter, moi, in size XL.

Any ideas for a newbie to both knitting and Crafster?

Thanks for your help!

For any beginning knitter in any size, I would definitely suggest the top-down raglan (there is a pattern on this site) - you can try it on and adjust as you want as you go along, and you can add any pretty designs or embellishments that you feel capable of doing. It is so simple - just cast on on a circular needle and start knitting, increasing as you go along - and just stop when you get it long enough (pausing mid-stream to take off the sleeve stitches and put them aside for later, of course!). And you can use any wool.
