erm, sounds silly but amazon.jp?
http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/534440/ref=br_dp_b_2_lf/250-8958610-0424237
that's a random search i did, because i just borrowed a book that is kind of a beading book (ISBN 4-7762-0008-2, couldn't figure out the title without a lot of personal time with my dictionary) ...

i'm not sure what kind of designs you are looking to do, otherwise i would offer to buy the book and ship it to you, as i'm in japan for awhile and like to help people buy all the awesome craft goodness that is in japan.

so yeah, let me know if you need more help than that. it's not much, but i figured any reply to a post would be a good thing. Wink

one of the big publishers is Ondori  you can search for them both on amazon.co.jp and amazon.com  they publish in English and Japanese...  also if you find one you are interested in on the Japanese site, you can follow their recommended links to find more or click the author/publisher at the top...

are you looking more for the jewelry designs or the characters or crystal stuff....?

I looooooove Japanese bead books!  There is this great online book store based in the Boston area that specializes in Japanese books.

(If you happen to live in the Boston area I think that on Saturdays they are open to the public for browsing but otherwise they do all online business.)

I bought one from Shipwreck Beads:

http://www.shipwreckbeads.com/results?page=1&query_id=79621069dac8399332e2d5a5000226c1

I don't read Japanese, but it has good diagrams, so I think I can figure it out anyway.  I just got the book, so I haven't tried any yet, though.

try 'bi-zu' in katakana if you can. or cut and paste this into the search box: ビーズ  (bi-zu)

you have a few options for shipping. singapore is zone1 so it's the cheapest...
'small packet' is 120yen for up to 50g and and aditional 70yen for every extra 50g up to 1kg.  After 1kg, its 175yen for each additional 250g up to 2kg.  It's my estimate, but i think 2-3 bead books (soft cover) would be under 2kg.

'parcel' rate for airmail starts at 1700yen for up to 500g... 'parcel' rate for surface mail starts at 1500yen for up to 1kg.

'small packet' is airmail too, but it is limited on how much you can send.  surface is by far the cheapest for alot, but can take a long time (usually about a month)

hope that helps!
