I just finished my first quilt top, but I am not sure what to do next.  Should I go ahead and put together the batting and backing or do you think I should try appliqué?  I have attached pictures because the print is a little busy already and I'd like some feedback on ideas.

So why buy what you can craft?  Smiley

i wouldn't do appliques on it, since it is really busy for my eyes. But tastes are different for gods sake.

If this would be my quilt I would attach a black border around (and a black backside, too), finish the sewing (filling and backside) and then I would quilt the quilt with black yarn. Something with large and small circels all over.
Gives a psychedelic look.
In case you are not to sure about that idea- just print out a photo of your photo and draw the border and circles with a black pencil on it to get an idea of the look.

i wouldn't applique, either. the pattern just doesn't read as "please applique me" to me ... but i DO like the idea of the black border & back. the black framing would really set off all your colors. great fabric, by the way!
