So this was my first attempt at both zippers and gathering...
and darn it i think it looks pretty good!

Not so flattering for the old belly, but, i'll be wearing it with some towering stilletos, so no one will be looking at my belly anyway!  Cheesy

I left the edge of the black top layer raw, and just zig-zagged over it a bit to stop the fray, i didn't want it to look too finished... does that make sense?? and i still need to put in the little hook and eye at the end of the zip to hold it all together, but it's twenty past one am and that can wait til tomorrow!!

I ran some bias binding along the edge of the pink and white check underlayer, cuz i'm really not into hemming! so lazy!

and the gathers that i'd never done before either... turn out pretty good!

Well, thanks for looking!
(sorry that i waffled on a bit!)

comments and criticism always welcome!
xx

I think it's adorable.  I love the high waist.  If you're not sure about the bottom of the black part, I would think about pinking shears, then stitch right above it to secure it.  I think the zig-zag would look cute up against the gingham.
