I've got a hook and I'm not afraid to use it.

Was your first try in a worsted weight yarn (though not Red Heart, obviously) or were you using something lighter? I'll probably be using a 4 ply worsted weight for my attempt unless I hear otherwise Smiley

I'm not even sure what it was. I can't find the label anywhere.

It reminds me of shiny embroidery floss but colors bright as caron's brites. Maybe it was on clearance. I can't seem to find anything like it on websites.

Red Heart .. it came out rather boxy and tight. A few rows were cut.

I'm a lefty, so if you would like to see how it comes out by a left-handed crocheter, I would like to try your pattern.

Okay, public apology time (along with an email apology). My email this morning probably came off incredibly arrogant. This is why I don't email people first thing in the morning. What I MEANT to say was I think I know exactly what you did with the hat. Sorry about that. My internal censor (who keeps me from saying incredibly stupid things) doesn't wake up until I'm at work.

Anyway, and I've got the first part figured out from your directions and your pictures. If you want I can type that up and you can go over it and see if it looks right to you? As for the sizing, I'm still not sure.

Me too. I think it's because I'm doing basically the same number of total stitches in round 3 as in round 2, but going from an enormous M hook to a teeny I hook, so that round is incredibly tight. When I do round 4, I have what looks like a miniature hat - the ring from rounds 1 & 2 is the top of my mini hat, then it gets cinched in by round 3, and round 4 forms a teeny brim. I halted there last night, because I couldn't picture having this little sticky up round bit on top of my head. If I'm reading this wrong, Ryuu Dolly, and there's actually a lot of stitch _increases_ that happen in round 3, can you let me know?
