Making a pattern

I used a website a while ago that would take a picture and turn it into a crossstitch pattern, naming the thread colors and everything. It was free and didn't require me to download anything. But I lost the link!! Does anyone know of a website like this??

It was probably the dark lilac page, which doesn't exist any more. That's the only online generator I can think of. Sorry!

oh no!! I think you're right. I just found my email from when I emailed all my links to myself, and it was in there.

Found this site, but it only does it in font.  But it has several variations, so that's useful:  http://www.crosstitch.com/fontform.html

This one is for knit, but it might work fairly well.  But it won't do the color conversion of course: http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/

I couldn't find any others so far.  I'll try looking more later.

I did see some that were for download for free, and i'll post those links later. I just wanted to be able to do it at work on my lunch.

the knit site is ok, but it doesn't work corners very well. I'm kinda looking for something that just takes an image and sticks it on a grid without altering it, like dark lilac did.

i'm more than glad to endorse PC Stitch... i have definitely used it enough that it's paid for itself from selling some of the work I stitched...

Same questions as above - but I'm on a Mac. Anyone got suggestions for a cross stitch generator that's Mac-compatible?

There's MacStitch: http://www.ursasoftware.com/MacStitch2008.htm. I've tried the demo version and it seems pretty good. I'm considering buying it, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
