I love Barbara Lavallee's artwork and it screams quilt to me.  This is my interpretation of her "legend of the Aurora Borealis" watercolor.  It's machine appliqued and quilted from hand-dyes cottons, embellished with rabbit fur.  I used the Barbara Lavallee fabric collection for the kuspiks, a fitting tribute I thought.

That is gorgeous!  I think I like it more than the original picture, but that could be because I have this slight fabric obsession.  It's quite glorious and makes me miss the northern lights.
