So my friend has a mermaid costume for a boat festival and asked me to make her a shawl to keep her warm this weekend. I bought some blue tie-dyed fleece and some green fleece, some glitter garlands to look like seaweed, strung shells, and a decorative net.

I cut the green fleece to look like strips of seaweed and used that to edge the blue fleece that i had sewn into a mini-cape, then i attached the netting to the cape, and interwove the garlands, shells and some extra green fleece.

tada! (took about 3hrs total)

You know when I read the title and then saw that you were using fleece I wasn't sure how it would work (fleece and mermaids?).  But I must say this is absolutely beautiful!  It matches the rest of the costume wonderfully, and I really feel the sea theme.  What a great job!

That's wonderful - looks just like something a mermaid would gather together to keep herself warm!  Fantastic idea.  It's perfect  Smiley

That turned out gorgeous! Too bad it's only for a costume. You have some great vision!
