Made these for a baby shower a few weeks ago.  They were a big (sweet!) hit!

The rocky road ones were a bit crazy Cheesy

The marshmallow ones remind me of cotton candy!

Supplies all ready to rock!

How I wrapped them for giveaways...

Here's the whole bunch!

Edit:  Here's the popcorn ball recipe I used! Smiley  (modified slightly from allrecipes.com:  http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Best-Ever-Popcorn-Balls/Detail.aspx)

INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup margarine
2 teaspoons cold water
2 5/8 cups confectioners' sugar
1 cup marshmallows
5 quarts popped popcorn

DIRECTIONS
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the corn syrup, margarine, cold water, confectioners' sugar and marshmallows.  Heat and stir until the mixture comes to a boil.  Carefully combine the hot mixture with the popcorn, coating each kernel.
Grease hands with vegetable shortening and quickly shape the coated popcorn into balls before it cools (Careful!!  Very hot!).

Allow to fully cool and then decorate, if desired.  Wrap.  Store at room temperature.

Thankie!!  I think I may have eaten too many of the toppings while I was making them.  I was hyper for quite some time after... Cheesy

Mmmmm......   how were the ones with marshmallows? I've never had caramel apples with marshmallows before.

I've been thinking about making popcorn balls for a while now (well, actually, caramel corn, but they're close to the same thing).  How did you make the popcorn?  I was thinking of using air popped, but air popped tends to shrink dramatically when exposed to liquids.

I didn't try any of the marshmallow ones.  Not surprisingly, the kids (and another pregnant girl Cheesy) grabbed those up pretty quickly.  I imagine they were VERY sweet, though.  They were the actual flavored marshmallows too, so probably pretty fruity.

The popcorn was air popped kettle corn.  I wanted to use plain, but didn't have the time to get to the store to get any kernels. Sad

Oh wow! These are great! You're great! haha

I love caramel apples but I feel like they're so messy to eat. I need to use a knife and plate or something. Great toppings! I've never had popcorn balls before. That makes me sad. I might have to make some. Maybe for halloween! =D Thanks for the idea and pretty pics!

Thanks! Cheesy  My hubby ate them right off the stick, but I totally went with a knife, fork and plate. Cheesy  Otherwise I would have been wearing half a sticky apple on my belly...

This makes me wish I loved candy apples. But they look so yummy. How'd you make the popcorn balls?
