In spite of all my sewing background, this is my first real attempt at doing something that is actually Lolita. I used the Simplicity 2959 pattern and altered it by not making it a wrap dress and making it fit more snugly. The goal of this dress was (aside from being Lolita) to use up some scraps of fabric that I had laying around. I even made the matching headbow (which I've been wearing around a lot without the dress.. lol).

A kitty walked by during the shoot!

Here's one where you can see the bows..

What do you think of it?? And also, if you feel like giving your opinion.. what do you think about the shirt that's underneath the dress? I've gotten mixed comments about whether or not it matches (from the Lolita communities on LJ).

Beautiful skirt!  I think the outfit looks fine, I like the mixed patterns.  Smiley

Hahaha the lolita communities on lj or else where ... I'm not surprised, they can be so mean between them they freak me out. Even more when they look like all but not a pretty gothic lolita. No offense, but really some lolita can be horrible between them !

Honestly before I scroll down I didn't even noticed the shirt under, I thought it was the dress. But, seeing it, it matches the stripped fabric of your dress but less the polka dot parts it's true. But nothing to make a scandal about ^w^ maybe a white shirt under then ?! Oh well nothing to really worry about, you are damn pretty like this, and I can't say the same with some whom make "scandal" for a matching fabrics -_- yeah I'm bitchy today o-o

I'm not gothic lolita, I do some gothic lolita for the pleasure to do them, but don't wear anything gothic lolita.

But my english is a scandal today I agree o-O

I think it's adorable, the fabric is so cute. As far as the shirt went I thought that it was part of the dress at first, I think it looks pretty sweet.
