I made a roman blind!
I collected the materials and had them kicking around for a few weeks before I summoned up the courage to start. But when I did it only took me two evenings! This is the first sewing project I've ever finished apart from a hat which isn't quite such an operation. Anyway, I'm pretty pleased with it. I call it my Strawberry Tetris blind. The fabric was curtains from a charity shop which I cut up - I think it's '80s.
The tutorial I used is here: http://www.alternative-windows.com/roman-blind.htm
I mis-measured the top due to confusion with the written instructions so the top pleat is shorter than the rest, a little annoying but I'm used to it now!

I live on a boat, hence odd window shape.

Awesome. My only criticism is not actually criticism because the shade is fantastic, but a suggestion if you should so desire... Smiley
When I make these, I cover the wood with matching fabric so that when I see it from the side, no wood shows! Smiley Of course, I actually covered mine with hideously contrasting fabric, but next time... Smiley and my top panels are short too. I like it that way.

Thanks Guys  Cheesy
Funkensteins, thanks for the pointer. I think I will do that next time. My idea was that the wooden baton would blend with the wooden wall, but this hasn't happened  Roll Eyes Hmm... stain and varnish could be an option!

Great job!

Thanks for the link to the cool site. I just moved into a new apartment, without any window treatments. That website will definitely come in handy.
