OK I'll go first. I'm kinda nervous because I don't want my comments to be misinterpreted and I don't know how well I will be able to convey it...
I don't know that it "conveys a message" to me exactly, but when I see it I instantly think "train car". Like the industrial old freight trains that pass through my rural area. It kind of looks like painted metal that's been out in the weather a while. The graphic says "utilitarian" to me. The signature(?) in the lower right is reminiscent of grafiti.
And I don't in any way mean to convey that all of this isn't anything but cool.
How large is it? I think it would have a strong impact as a large piece and maybe it would be at home hanging on a brick wall in a an urban loft. Or in a rural converted barn with rough wood walls and beams.
And thus winds up my career as an art reviewer!
thank you for taking the time
to share your thoughts with me
yes, it is a solid size. 2 foot squared; 24 x 24.
i chose red as the main focus because
i wanted it to tie in with my work area.
( i have a red stool and mini red metal cabinet ).
...with every intention for it to be modern and minimal;
but the effect is almost its opposite.
it has an obvious vintage appearance,
"kind of looks like painted metal that's been out in the weather a while".
being born and raised in an inner city environment
has its influence on me,
in regards to the signature.
you are right on with the graffiti.
very interesting interpretation.
thank you again
