Hi

I was wondering if someone could help me. I just bought some DMC Perle Cotton 5 thread for a textiles assignment and some crewel needle, but I cant seem to get the thread in the eye of the needle.

What needle size should I use when using DMC Perele Cotton thread?

Thanks for your help

:)Paula

I generally use DMC size 5 needles and am able to get DMC Perle Cotton size 12 through the eye.

I would guess that size 6 is thicker so I would use whatever size needle will let you get the thread through the eye but also be suitable for your fabric.  Bigger eyes generally mean a thicker needle so you also want to make sure you aren't leaving big holes in your fabric.  If you have a fabric store nearby, I've found in my experience that the sales clerks are very helpful and friendly, so maybe they could help you out too.

Best of luck
