I am new to crochet, but am currently addicted.  Love making hats, handy as I have Alopecia and hate wearing my wigs, so usually wear a scarf or hat.  Belinda, my lovely model, has a much smaller head than me, so they are more snug on me, (no embarrassing moments when out in windy weather!!   Embarrassed Embarrassed )

The Gold and Blue one is all single crochet, with 2 bands of double crochet, for the ribbons.  The butterfly one, is all half doubles, trimmed with narrow ribbon.  Both are done in cotton.

The arm warmers are not very good, but warm, they were 4 rows of single and then 3 rows of double crochet,  you can't really see it, but there are 3 rows of single crochet on the back of each hand from the thumb. They are done in a some kind of acrylic.

I made them up as I went along, but did watch a video on  Utube to help with the hats and went from there.  sorry can't remember which one.

Comments, advice etc, very welcome, thank you xxx

I'm going to be doing something similar to your wristwarmers, how did you do the thumb hole?

thanks

Please forgive the total lack of technical terms!!

Starting from the wrist I make a tube, stopping at the bottom of my thumb.  I then with 2 bits of wool pulled through, mark the gap for my thumb, back and front and stop then going around, but go back and forward.  When the length is correct, ie when the wrist warmer is the right length, stop.  Put it on and work out where you have to pick up the stitches on the side from the top on the palm side. and work a small band until it is long enough to join back to front.  Then if you want you can pick up stitches and crochet the thumb around.

Here is a fairly dreadful diagram, (drawing is not one of my talents!!)

Good luck and please let me know if this was helpful/unhelpful.
