Embroidered Mini Quilt

I don't think my MIL frequents this site, especially the needlework board, but if you are reading this and recognize the projects or the style or the writing and think there's even the slightest chance you may be the mother of my husband, consider yourself warned.

Moving on. Ah, I couldn't decide where to post this since it started out as embroidery and turned into my first-ever quilt, which I'm really proud of. But since it was intended to be an embroidered gift and just evolved into the quilt, I'm posting it here.





The pattern is my own. I intended to keep it simple, which I sort of did, but I couldn't help adding details into the stitching. It's hard to see in the photos, but I went so far as to use a single strand of ecru to outline all the teeny little squares within the squares. I used regular ol' DMC embroidery floss, muslin for the center square, and batiks for the quilty part. I'm very happy with it, and I think it'll be a big hit at Christmas.
