Yea, sounds good, so excited...  Grin my dad appeared home with old glass bottles from my uncles house, which I'm going use in the kitchen for the apothecary! Also ordered an inflatable cauldron from ebay.. to fill with ice for the drinks!

I ALSO FOUND A LOT OF SUPPLIES AT THE DOLLAR STORE.  I FOUND PLASTIC FLIES BUT WHEN I PUT THEM IN THE BOTTLE YOU COULDN'T TELL WHAT THEY WERE.  SO I FILLED THE BOTTLE WITH CLEAR HAIR GEL, ALSO FROM THE DOLLAR TREE, AND THEN PUT THE FLIES IN THE BOTTLE SO THEY WERE SUSPENDED IN AIR.

I AM NOW WANTING TO MAKE A HAUNTED LIBRARY.  I WENT TO GOOD WILL AND BOUGHT OLD LOOKING BOOKS. I PAINTED THE SPINES TO COVER THE TITLES BUT KNOW I AM HAVING A HARD TIME COMING UP WITH SCARY TITLES FOR BOOKS.  SO FAR I HAVE ONLY COME UP WITH " HOW TO BUTCHER A HUMAN".

ANY IDEAS?

I would do plays on famous titles:
A Transylvanian Warlock in King Arthur's Court
Animal Farm: a cookbook
Little Witches
Of Mice and Trolls
The Picture of Gargoyle Gray
To Kill a Griffin
Vampire Fair
By themselves they aren't very clever, but together in a spooky library I think it'd look great.

I'm sorry I missed this thread.  I did the witch's apothecary last year.  My jars (when packed upright) lasted the year and a move (we are in a new house).  I used shampoos and liquid soaps for most of the "wet" ingredients.  A really great place to find decorative bottles for an apothecary is goodwill and freecycle.

Here are some of the jars I made last year.

Since we moved at the end of summer I didn't have much of a chance to make anything for Halloween this year.
Here are some websites for other ideas for jars/bottles/labels:

I have actually been putting the finishing touches on my apothecary -esqe display and one of the best things I have found to fill the specimen jars are those dollar store grow in water toys. I let them soak for at least a week to get them as swollen as possible then put them in smaller jars all smashed down so you couldn't usually tell what kind of creature I started with (although snakes and sting rays usually are my favorites). I put dye in some of the jars (saved from sauce, pickles, whatever but paint all the lids black to make them look like a group) and add some dollar store tap lights to illuminate some from behind. I also use any decorative bottles or wine bottles that I have on hand in different colors and shapes for potions bottles then sprinkle some creepy bugs spiders and worms and other dollar store critters, as well as whatever I can scrounge out of my son's toybox (this year I scored a cheesy plastic lizard that looks way spooky in the low lighting).
