i saw these wooden pumpkins and just had to have one. dh said, i can do that. so he did.

he used a chainsaw for the first time tuesday, and by saturday i arrived home to find these, and three men in my front yard carving pumpkins lol.

this is two big ones hes working on

the first one he made

the first one and two smaller ones that have been smoothed out a bit

one of the smaller ones, with toddler for size refrence.

i love these, weve sent one home with my mom, and i have ideas for christmas decorations too.  we have a lot of fallen trees in the woods next to our house so were not cutting down living happy trees just to make stuff.

That's such a cool take on pumpkins Smiley Plus their permanency compared to the pumpkins that get smashed on halloween night is great!

Those are adorable!  Are you going to paint them or anything?  I am picturing them with a burnt orange stain, something you can still see all of the wood-y detail through.  OOOhhh...maybe woodburn a face on first!

Those are so cool! I love the one in the last photo. I think painting them would be really neat, but it might take away from them as well.

we want to stain them or something.  we want to make them orange but still let the natural wood show through.  we were thinking about using rit dye to stain, then seal... then pondered if they tinted sealer...  we arent really sure what to do, but he just keeps making them lol.

Those are just awesome!!! I would love to have some- if he keeps making them you should totally sell some at a craft fair or something. I think orangey stain or thinned-down acrylic paint would look great, although I'm in love with just the naked wood.
