This isn't just sewing, or just, um pipe construction. Its not really a plaything, as it seems play things are things that could fit in your hand.
Anyway.... I made a teepee as a gift for my friend's 3 year old's birthday.

It took about 20 hours and lots of fabric.

ok--this totally beats, kicks, & slaps the craft outta the store-bought barbie play tent I had when I was a baby kid... Made out of cheap plastic...it got pretty darn hot in there, it was really flammable once I think about it....oh, the memories.  Roll Eyes Tongue

haha, anyway, this looks extremely safe and fun and I love it!!!!!!!

Inspiration without application is moot.

Awesome! i was just looking at this pattern thinking my kids would go nuts for it. was it annoying/hard to construct?

The only difficult part was working with HUGE amounts of heavy fabric, finding a place in my house to lay out the fabric to cut it was quite a production. Structurally its a pretty simple pattern. Oh yes, and if you take it on, hit the $1 a yard section at Wal-Mart.

For those who wish to tackle such a beast the pattern is Butterick #B4251.
