This is really a variegate merino that has been plied with crochet cotton

my first yarn spun up from roving I dyed with jacquard dyes.  I was completely taken back as it is so different than the roving looked dyed.  I am very pleased at the pretty colorway though Smiley

Lets see your yarns & fibers!

It's Friday, doing *happy dance* For Fibre Friday!!!

Love the first three, I absolutely love the look I have seen when twisted with thread and crochet cottons. Looked into a spinning guild around here, may take a trip over to it if it is on my day off next week.

WANT MORE PICTURES!!! Cry

Happy to oblige, Cealy!

I finally finished plying this yarn - combination of various alpaca and wools.  Over 400 yards.

Husband dubbed this "Black Widow".  The picture doesn't do justice to how black this is IRL.  229 yards, 2-ply

This was 2 oz of hand dyed finn, spun and Navajo plied.  About 100 yards.

Got the roving for this from lapoli in the Shop the Swap.  She called the roving "Campfire".  I'm thinking of either plying with a brown, or dying some roving with brown, and a bit of blue/yellow/white.

I haven't posted in a while... This week I got over a slump that lasted about 2 and a half weeks in which I couldn't seem to make my self sit down to spin at all. I guess it was a combination of busy-ness with other things I needed to do, and a lack of inspiration. Anyways, here is one of the ones I never posted in Sept., the ones I spun this week, and a couple of FOs/almost FOs made with handspun!

Icicle -  "Twists" yarn, handspun with my "Air Element" inspired July Loop SSB Club Batt.
Contains alpaca & sparkle & other such nummyness! Approx. 34 yds, 3.8 oz.

Age of Aquarius -  Single spun from Hobbledehoy's Aquarius batts, contains merino & sparkle. Approx. 240 yds, 3 oz.

Galileo! -  Single spun from Cloudlover's Galileo batt... contains merino, glitz, sari silk, silk noil & angora. Approx. 160 yds, 2.5oz.

Autumn Dragon Scarf & Calorimetry - Knit with my "Autumn Approaches" yarn.

Evening Dragon Scarf - (Yes I really love the pattern, this one is for me the first is a gift)
Knit with my Black Amber yarn. It is actually more finished than this picture it only needs to be blocked now.

I painted some celtic knotwork onto my wheel Smiley I really love how it turned out...
it adds just a little touch of specialness.

Happy Fiber Friday!!!

I've been a busy bee myself..  I was on a total supercoil kick last weekend..

Candy Shoppe. 25 yards, 3 oz

Under the Tree, 15 yards, 2 oz

Bling Free, 14 yards 2 oz

Subtle, 28 yards, 2 oz
fiber from my batts

Lilacs- spun thick and thin and plied with colorchanging thread
fiber from  cloudlover

Crisp- 4 oz bft, spun slightly thick and thin with a low twist
*pics were taken before the twist was set- I'm not sure of yardage either Smiley
fiber from Funky Carolina

14 Karat Gold, 3 oz
67 yards, spun thick and thin, candystriped with a gold lurex thread *pics are pre twist set*
fiber from Loop SSB

Carmel Swirl, 67 yards spun thick and thin, candystriped with a gold lurex thread *pics are pre twist set*
Fiber from FeltStudioUK

Garden Grow
40 yards, merino and matching firestar and angelina
from my batts

Butterfly Dreams,
44 yards merino and matching firestar and angelian
from my batts

Multi Holiday Festivus Bush
unsure of yardgae.. pics before twist was set
mini batts from woolytreasures

Who's Crazy
*spun from 2 of my treasure chest batts*

Gone Nucular
*spun from one of my treasure chest batts*

I also carded up a bunch of batts this week..
Pumpkin Pie
3.2 oz merino, corriedale, bamboo, tencel and angelina..
I did these batts in 2 steps.. first I carded the 3 shades of orange merino and topaz bamboo, and 2 shades of angelina.. then I took that batt off the carder (split it in half.. for 2 batts)  then I put down a layer of supersoft corridale (for the "crust") Then I carded down a layer of the orange batt, so it carded again.. becoming more blended in colors.. which was the "pumpkin" layer,  then I carded white tencel onto the edges.. because no pie is complete without "whipped cream"

Fairy Princess
3.75 oz, merino/tencel, bamboo, angelina (4 colors) and pink firestar, with 4 sequins strands..

Blue Skies
4 oz, romney lamb fleece, 4 colors of angelina

Shady Tree
3 oz Romney Lamb and 3 colors of angelina

Inspired by the pic I took of my backyard trees..

Snow Covered MistleToe
2 batts, totaling 4oz batts, including sequins, ribbon, novelty yarns, sparkley pom poms.. for a spin your own art yarn kit- merino, bamboo, tencel, 4 colors of angelina and pinches of ecospun for the freshly fallen snow look..

YAY for Friday!!!

Friday! Wheeee!

So I have three this week. I spent some quality time with my drum carder last week.

Ice Hockey - corridale, BFL, targhee, merino, silk, firestar, mohair (carded and locks), and angora. So soft and fluffy.

Ice Hockey part two - Same as above, but corespun

Like Buttah or Glass Slipper (I haven't decided yet)- Silk, hemp, tencil, bfl, corridale, and merino corespun.
So out of this world soft and creamy.

Yeah!

I spun this up for the Harry Potter knit and crochet House Cup on ravelry:

It's baby camel down plied with copper thread. It's super soft and squishy. I'm saving up for more camel so I can make some for my own use.

very nice fiber friday everyone!  sorry I haven't contributed in a while, I'm gearing up to start spinning again now that the wedding is over.  Plus I just bought a drum carder, so I'm going to need to stock my shop to pay for it!

I've been too busy to spin these days Cry looking at everyone's yarns is making me want to spin so bad!
here are some little nests i made last week for my little friends Mev and Isa:

the nests are crocheted from handspun with bits of cassette tape, ribbons and rick-rack spun in and the eggs are felted wool.

I just want to let you all know that I love Fridays for many reasons, but getting to ogle all your lovely spinning is a big one! I can't wait until I don't live in a dorm and can actually have a wheel. I've been attempting a drop spindle, but I don't think I'm coordinated enough.

Keep up all the fantastic work!

Thanks!! I was on such a supercoil kick last week.. it's all I could do to stop myself from coiling EVERYTHING!!  This week it's corespinnig....  i just finished tailspinning some lincoln locks.. soooooo pretty.. but a difficult technique to master.  I had to keep stopping to keep the curls from coming up.. but I got the hang of it for sure..  I'll post pics on friday Smiley
