I call this the “Birthday Obama Hat” because my birthday is January 20th… the day that Barack Obama will be inaugurated as 44th President of the United States.  Wink

This is my first time using multiple colors and first attempt at duplicate stitch, so it's far from perfect, but I like it anyway.

I followed this pattern with a few minor modifications:

http://tobinknit.blogspot.com/2008/02/hope-hat-pattern.html

Row A: Knit
Row 1-5: Follow pattern- K2, P2 ribbing
Row B: Knit one row, continuing to use R
Row 6-8: Follow pattern- Join W, knit 3 rounds
Row 29-30: With W knit 2 rounds.
Row 30-36: With DB knit 6 rounds.

Then, instead of “Hope” as written in the pattern, I added the Obama logo from the “Obama Afgan Chart” using duplicate stitch:

Well done.

And I'm not going to say anything about your political views other than xP.

But really, the hat is amazing.

See? I couldn't have done that if I was dead.

I wish I had more time before the election to knit one of these. Of course, I could still do it to wear for the next four (eight?!) years while he's in office.

This is just beautiful.
