I don't know if this has been done before or posted here before but I tried a search and I didn't come up with anything.  I got the inspiration from a toy I got a petco, this little tiny sock that was filled with stuffing and catnip. The tiny thing cost $1.25!  However, I did buy one, and my cats LOVED it.  I have two cats, one of which is a complete snob and there are very few toys she will play with, but this was one that she went nuts over.

So, I was in Target last week poking around the "Dollar Spot" (my favorite section!) and they had these adorable little infant Halloween socks.  I thought they'd be perfect for making kitty toys.

Instead of using stuffing (because I didn't have any  Wink ) I filled them up with paper from my shredder so they'd be crinkly

Added some catnip

Stuffed it all in there

Stitched all along the top - I don't have a sewing machine so I hand stitched about three times across the top so they'd be durable.

And voila! For only .50 a sock I think they came out pretty good.  I wish I had some friends with infants (who doesn't lose a sock and throw the other one away?) so I could get their extras.

I think the cats approve...

Investigating the new toys

Frank wouldn't let go!

Even Predator, "Miss Snob" loved it

This was the original from Petco.  I think mine are way better  Grin

Those are awesome, but somehow i think my cats are too snobbish to play with them XD

And I just noticed your avatar... that tattoo on your back, my mum has what seems to be the exact same design, but much smaller and on the bottom of her back.

No cat can be a snob with enough catnip  Grin  And, your mum must totally rock, haha.

my cats love the little things like this but they have some obsessive disorder or something because they don't stop until they chew a big hole in it and eat all the catnip. lol

My kitty loves the sock toys, especially the ones with the bells.  He likes the bigger ones though, so I'll try this out with bigger kid socks.  He likes the little ones just fine, but they don't have the bell and he loses them quite easily.  I love that you can make your kitty ones just for the holidays.  The ones in the stores are all so plain.
