So...I got LOTS of awesome comments on my first umbrella skirt: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=263260.0

So I thought I'd post my second attempt here too:

So...I tried to make this one more wearable than the original...I made the waistband out of a pair of pants I had laying around in my stash...made it thicker than the typical waistband...then added the tab detail...that was on the pants originally...
then...the umbrella for the skirt part...it was a cuter print than the original, I think...
Anyway, here's a close up of the print:

the edges (I left on the little metal thingies):

and on my dressform (it doesn't fit quite right, so I had to pin it, that's why there's that huge wrinkle, it isn't usually there):

I like the way it turned out, what do y'all think?
Thanks!

I think it's very cute, especially the flower pattern!
I'd love to see some pics of you wearing the skirt.

Man, that looks really cool. Love the idea of leaving the umbrella spokes(?) to give it a little shape.

But when you wear it, does it poke you?

I just left the little metal things from the bottom in, the spokes are not still in there...=) It just gives it a more umbrella-y look without being insanely uncomfortable.
Thanks for the comments!!!! And I don't have any pictures of me wearing it because it's a little too big, but I will try to get an action shot of someone else wearing it =)

I LOVE it! That is so cool, and it could be like an umbrella costume, with you as the cane part  Cheesy Or just super fabulous. I have an umbrella with pink roses all over it... maybe I should do this...
