So far it seems like everyone's got some version of D&D in common.  AD&D came between 1 and 2?  I didn't start playing until 3 was already out, so I'm ignorant.    Embarrassed

*laughs*  That's okay, DH knows all of them, and then half the other systems out there.  Have you played 4th, yet?  Everyone down here has been complaining about it, but I kinda like it...

I am so old school, I never went past 2nd ed.  I am just set in my ways I spoze.  I tired 3 & 3.5 and have the books and all but just didn't like what they did to the game.  FIRST EDITION FTW!

I've played 4th a little bit, and I really like it, but the rest of my group doesn't, so we haven't gotten past a couple testing sessions...

you belong in this swap more than I do, LOL!

I didn't even know there was an edition past AD&D as that is how old the books I used to play with are. However - I did manage to meet the originators at a Star Trek convention a LONG time ago  Roll Eyes

Of course - I don't remember what they looked like or anything, only that the display was uber awesome and I snagged the newest Monster Manual while I was there...  must have been in the early 1980's or something.

Ooh, White Wolf...which one?  I've played Vampire the Masquerade, but I'm just not all about the vampires...it took me three tries before I made a character I wanted to stick with.  Hunter's a blast, though.

I hope the D&D people have settled on an edition for a little while, at least...I mean, 3.5 and 4 came out within, what, three years of each other?  Less?  4 is really simplified, though.  I like how the magic runs in it, though I was disappointed that they cut some of the classes.

I'm so happy I joined this! I know it's going to be nerdy fun!

I've only ever played 3.5 D&D. The game I'm in right now has some sprinkles of 2nd ed. in it. It's a continuation of a massively epic game that my friends all played before I met them. The DM made up new rules and new classes, along with the world and awesome back story. He's actually writing a book about the first part (in all his free time between a newborn, 2 year old and WoW addiction LOL). It's really fun.

I haven't looked that the 4th ed. books but I know my friends don't like it all that much. We may end up stealing some of the rules from it though.  Wink

I won't be playing D&D for a while. DM's wife (who also plays) just had a baby!  Cheesy
