Hello,
I didn't know if this belonged here or in the reconstructed, so feel free to move it. I've seen the record bowls around here, but hadn't seen this, so thought i'd share.

i melted the record in the oven to make a record bowl and thought how it would be perfect to hang on the wall and a clock-mechanism-thingy would fit perfectly in the back.

hope you like it.
(it's a bob seger and the silver bullet band record and i liked the picture.  Cheesy )

close up of record...without the flash so the color's kinda off.

thanks for looking, heather

That's so cool!  I need to try record-melting.  I've done the bead melting and it smelled so bad my fiance won't let me stink up the house anymore.  Does it smell when you melt records?

Great album choice for your clock.  The "smell thing" has been holding me back too.  Some say it stinks and some say not, I wonder what makes the difference (although it's true that some music does stink... I know, lame).

You can also cover a flat record with fabric for a custom round clock.

Very cute!  I made a record clock a few years ago, but I admit I was never brave enough to try melting them, so it was just a "flat" clock, lol.

Wow, this looks great, and it's such an innovative use for the bowl too!

This is great and a co-worker (a had working nurse) LOVES Bob S.  If you by chance have another of his records would you consider making it to sell?  This is an awesome craft!

i don't have another bob seger record, sorry....i actually just bought this at a thrift store specifically for this project. i only paid a $0.25 for 2 records because they were pretty warped to begin with and the sales clerk thought i was crazy for wanting 2 really warped records so she felt bad for me and gave me an amazing deal.  Grin
