When I think about Fall, I think about leaves falling from trees and birds heading south.

I also think about the promise of Spring, and how that sometimes gets me through the long Minnesota winter.

So, my project was a jewelry box based off of a project I saw some other blogger do (and hers was totally more awesome than mine, but I don't remember who it was at the moment). It's got birdies in a tree on the outside, and the inside (which didn't photograph well) is painted bright turquoise, a reminder that Spring eventually comes around.

Since you can't tell in the picture, the box is painted brown and navy blue, and is about a 4" cube. I'm still waiting for the paint to fully dry to be able to use it. It's only my second embroidery project, and the first in which I tried stem stitch (which turned out so-so - I think I'm doing something wrong). Overall I'm happy with how it turned out.

I really love this design.  I'm a noob to the embroidery, too, and your stem stitch looks way better than mine!  Really lovely.

If I had a needle and thread, fine as I could sew, I'd sew my true love to my side, and down the creek

Thats a fun idea for a jewelry box.  Your birds are sweet all perched on their tree.  Smiley
