My best friend's eighteenth birthday is today and I made him this cake! Green converse is kind of an inside joke, so I knew I HAD to make a cake shaped like one. I'm not a cake decorator by any means, so I used frosting and food coloring, not fondant or anything like that.

I know it's far from perfect but whatevs, we just dug into it anyway!

Cute!! Nice job with the logo, too! I may have to try this for my older daughter's upcoming birthday....

Did you use a special cake pan? or just rectangle and rounds?

whoa! thanks for all the comments!  Cheesy

right, i forgot all those important details! Roll Eyes okay:

Well, I had to use what I had, and also he never told me if he prefered yellow or chocolate. I used mixes because I'm lazy and they never fail! I put yellow in a rectangle cake pan, 13x9 or something like that, and I put the chocolate in a regular cookie sheet because i didn't have anything else! Anyway, I just cut rectangles out of the cakes, two each, and frosted them together. So it's four layers of cake, chocolate, yellow, chocolate, yellow, with chocolate frosting in between! And then I just took a bread knife and carved away, learning by watching Ace of Cakes :]

...did any of that make sense?

I had a LOT of scraps left over that I a) ate, b) threw away, and c) are sitting in my fridge with no purpose but to be scarfed down later!
