Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get some clear PVC fabric suitable for sewing in Sydney? I'm needing it for XMas presents I want to make. Any websites would be good too.

Thanks
Paula

I'm from Melb so this may not be much help, but I've used clear plastic tablecloth. You can get it from Spotlight, Bunnings also sells lots of different thicknesses.

i guess i'm too late and it depends on your purpose. I buy my clear pvc from newsagencies i.e. expensive non adhesive book cover. It's thin enough to sew through but not good if you want something incredibly durable unless its lined or reinforced

Tablecloth stuff is too soft, it goes wavy after a while when used on garments Sad

GJs Fabric in Melbourne sells proper clear PVC, suitable for bags etc. You could ring them and ask them to send some up if you're still having supply issues.

can't you generally get different strengths of clear pvc intended for table tops. The thicker you want, the more you'll have to pay

I've tried the thick stuff. It's just softer and smellier than the professional craft stuff, and has a blue tinge, that goes yellow after a while, and ripples badly when folded. I guess if you just used it for a small "window" covering another piece of fabric, it might be passable. But hey, it's cheap, and available, and looks good for a little while. My 2c.
