One day I was watching one of my favorite crafting show and came across this awesome Idea!!!
So I made a super soft afghan using my birthday.  I Use it all the time.






I've got a couple more comin'!! Grin

to ninjadeathstrike,

I got the idea from the show uncommon threads.  The base of the blanket is an open double crochet mesh ( DC, chain, DC, chain etc)  The color pattern comes from whatever date or number you choose.  My birthday is 08 21 80 so I used 8,2,1,8 for the row pattern.  Once you have made the mesh blanket as big as you want,  You weave (over under)in the opposite direction using the same color and number pattern.  I recommend using 2 strands of yarn in each row across.  Make sure that the woven and crocheted rows are crossed.  It's fairly simple and not too horribly time consuming
