Sorry for the multiple new topics, I've finally got a day at home with a few hours to kill so I'm taking advantage.  Wink
Here's some of the Animals and Floral pieces I've done.

Beeeeeez

My mothers kitten that passed away Sad

Tiger project from Collage.  This was my first scratchboard and I guess what started it all

Hibiscus flower

I've been doing scratchboards since I found out about it in Illustration and Design in collage.  So... about 10 years now.  I'm a tattoo artist and I specialize in realism and I have to say, next to skin, scratchboards are by far my favourite medium!  So here's some examples of my works.

And for anyone who's not familiar with what a scratchboard is, it's a wooden board with a layer of white clay under a layer of black ink and you simple etch or rub off the black to expose the white underneath.  It is an extremely precise and fun medium to work with, the level of detail you can get out of it is pretty amazing sometimes Smiley

Your work is unbelievable...I posted in the last topic, however, I'm wondering if you draw with pencil onto your scratchboard first or if you just dig right in?  I've used scratchboard before, but I've always had to pencil in my ideas first.

Wow!  These are gorgeous.  My favorite would have to be the caged tiger, but the kitty memorial definatly holds a soft spot in my heart.  I've been meaning to do a watercolour for my mom of my childhood cat that recently passed away.  The scratch board tecnique itself is really neat too.  I want to try, but i've never been good at tight, unforgiving mediums.  It seems hard ;o)

I used to use pencil but it's very hard to remove the graphite lines afterwards, so what I started doing is I bought black transfer paper and I make a stencil to follow.  Once I've traced it out and I remove the stencil paper all I'm left with are faint shiny black lines on the board that I can see more as a reflection in the right light.  So as long as I'm sitting under a good light source I can see it, and once I spray with a fixative when I'm all done, the lines are completely gone Smiley

Wow.  I'm going to have to agree with many people and say that while they are all wonderful, the Tiger is my favorite.
