Last night I felt like drawing but didn't know what to draw so I checked out Illustration Friday to see what the weekly theme was and it was 'strings'. Here's my drawing....our family cat had to sadly be put down on friday morning and my parents are going to put his ashes on their rose bed. We are all very sad because he was 15 years old and a big presence in their home so he's leaving a big hole behind. The centre figures are my parents and our dog and the outer figures are myself and my sister, seperated by water because we all live in different countries. It is only a quick little doodle really but I am quite happy that it expresses our present states of mind.

I think that this is a beautiful drawing, one that all can relate to. Loosing a pet can be very difficult.

I love your symbolism (& your art!) - we just recently lost our little beagle of almost 12 years, so I was really touched by your artwork even before I read all the details.

Sorry about your cat. Tongue  This is a beautiful piece of art.  What a great way to honor him.  I have seen work like this and I know that you need lots of patience for it.  * this rocks *  Wink

Aw, that's sweet! Definitely great advertising material, too. Ever considered that field?

This reminds me of Keith Haring's work...in a very good way.  But I love how original it is!  The story behind this piece is very touching, and I'm glad you now have such a meaningful memento to hold on to.   Smiley

This is what you call a "quick little doodle"?  I am amazed.  It is always hard to lose a loved one, you have my condolences.
