TGIF indeed!!! Wink Cheesy

I love October 10th, I have had some great experiences in my past on October 10th.  Strange, but true. Cheesy

I finally have a yarn this week.  I just need to give credit to my mom for the name, because I was really clueless as to what to name it.

Cherry Lime Swirl-

I don't remember the yardage, but I think it is between 70 to 80 yards.  Not quite enough to make a hat.  I feel I'm slowly getting better, though one of my joins did break apart while I was preparing the yarn for twist setting. Sad  I would love any suggestions as what to make with it.  It is either Tussah silk, merino, or a combination of both.  I don't remember.  I got it from Alpaca's Attic in Cedarburg, WI.  Next time I'm there I'll look.

Can't wait to see all the other beautiful goodness. Cheesy

Nice Myklia!  I'm terrible at naming skiens!

My husband did name a 300 yard 2-ply lace weight yarn I finished up this week "Black Widow" ... it's mostly black with glints of red & blue throughout it.... alas, I forgot to get a picture of it this week!!!

I spun up 4 oz from a Ravelry swap: (combo of black & brown alpaca with purple BFL and an unidentified wool)

spun into this:

I wanted to keep the full yardage so spun up some oatmeal shetland

and started plying it last night:

I think it will be cute for an EZ Baby Surprise Jacket

Let's see more!!

Myklia - Your yarn is lovely. It looks very soft and quite even. Good Job!

mullerslanefarm - I love that you took a photo of every step of the process. I always enjoy seeing the morphing of fiber to yarn. It really shows how you can change the look of a yarn with a simple white as a 2ply! Very cool.

I don't have anything to show this week. I've been knitting baby booties like a machine. Although in the last week I did purchase some loop, cloudlover69, and hobbledehoy batts plus some dyes for my stash so I'll have no excuss next week.

Hope everyone has a fantastic, fiber-filled day!

I really don't like my yarn this week. In fact, I may go so far as to say I hate it. It started out great- I got in in a swap and is was superwash and I said whoo! sock yarn! But the more I looked at it the less I liked the colors. Then as I was spinning the dye leaked on my hands. My navajo plying crashed and burned (I think I know why- I had some under spun spots thanks to heroes and I think I need to set my bobbin behind me, not in front....). It's about 200 yards. Maybe I will make socks anyway and give them to somebody. It's kind got me down, I need to spin up something fun and silly next..

And in eat your-heart-out news" a friend of mine found a bag of roving at a thrift store- she was really excited because she thought it was wool and had some great felting ideas for it. She brought it to roller skating class and showed me some and I told her it was cotton, not wool. Bummer she days, I don't think I can use it then, do you want it? *makes gimme gimme hands* She pulls the bag out of her car and....

almost three POUNDS of cotton roving. WHEEE!!!!
I'm gonna be a cotton feind for a while......

Love Cherry Lime Swirl - reminds me of a slushie  Cheesy

I don't have the prettiest thing to show this week, but an accomplishment none-the-less: my first yarn spun on a wheel!

I am taking a spinning class right now and this was my first attempt, 90 yards of corridale - horribly uneven.  But I love spinning on a wheel, I just have to save up enough to get one  Tongue

Yay! My first Fiber Friday!

My first! From dirty fleece to this...It was spun on a drop spindle I made and then I dyed it with Kool-Aid. It's only about 20 yds.

Poor Little No-Name

My second! This was spun from about 2oz. of naturally dyed (walnut and goldenrod) roving a friend gave me. This was also spun on my homemade drop spindle. It's about 93 yds.

Lamina, I think that yarn is super pretty! It's too bad that it bled on your hands, though. And major score on the roving!

WMA, your yarns are really gorgeous.

I wish there were spinning classes nearby, I really want to try a wheel before I consider buying one.  There is a place in Chicago, and maby at some point I'll make the trip.
