I have been asked to crochet a hat from a guy that I used to go to high school with.  The problem is, he has no idea what type of hat he's looking for, he just wants it to be crocheted.  I was hoping to find a surplus of men's hat patterns online, but have not found many.  If you have any suggestions, please help me.

This guy is somewhat of the "intellectual" type.  I'm thinking he's looking for something laid back, somewhat basic, but not tacky.

Thanks for any help you can give!

How about something like this? http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_nr=0&d_id=82&lang=en

The info I find says the yarn used is a fingering weight silk/wool mix, since I know sometimes it's hard to find the exact yarn.

Thank you very much!  I'm going to add this one to the sample pics that I'm going to send him.  I really appreciate it.

Here's the thread I started asking for patterns for men's beanie hats:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=262041.msg2938086#msg2938086

There are some pretty nice patterns listed in there.  My boss loved the hat I made him. ^_^

Thanks so much!  I hadn't realized that you posted that before.  I guess that happens as things get lost in the middle somewhere.  Still, I'm glad your boss liked his hat, and I think I've found the perfect pattern out of the link you gave me!

I can't blame you for missing my post.  When I saw yours I went looking for mine to show you and it took forever to find it! lol

Good luck with your hat!

I know there's a deerstalker hat at freepatterns.com, too, if you're looking for something a little off-beat. BUT ... I can't remember my login, it won't send me my password, and it won't let me re-register with the same email.
