My favorite thing about fall is absolutely Halloween, Especially Jack-o-lanterns.

Every year my family decks out the house in decorations, we set up a graveyard out front and carve Jack-o-lanterns.  Lots of them!!!  One year I think I carved a record 23 and they lined the walkway for all our trick-or-treaters.

I LOVE to carve Jack-o-lanterns!  I always have, The guts are the best part of the whole thing. I pull it all out with my hands and squish it through my fingers.(the kids think its gross)   Grin

Its messy, silly and somehow magical.  There is something about taking a plain ordinary pumpkin and transforming it into its own entity.

They have historically guarded house from evil, Lit our way, and have become the classic Icon of the holiday.  It's just not fall without one.

Then if that wasn't enough for the great pumpkin;  if you don't want to "jack" your pumpkin there is always pie! Wink

So I decide to make a small embroidery (that now graces my kitchen) to commemorate said Icon.

I handdrew it all so it has the folk art feel to it.

A couple of close ups:

Poor Jack!

this is a closeup of the guts, my favorite part!  I used white seed beads for the pumpkin seeds.

Hope you like it! Grin

This is awesome!  I love playing with pumpkin guts myself, though I think the pumpkin pie is even better!

We did our pumpkins the other night, and it was a lot of fun - it had been a few years and I'd forgotten!  I love your embroidery, and your beaded seeds are so clever!  They look really nice!

funny face on him - lovely satin stitch.  and I like the use of the bi-toned floss for him and the stem on the top.  Smiley
