I have no idea what I'm going to do with these or even why the desire to make them came so close to my beloved Halloween but I seem to have made a batch of emotional snowballs...

They started out as paper mache covered Styrofoam balls

I painted them white...

I went a little crazy with the 'aging'

To fix that minor flub I wiped on some more white paint and then added rosy cheeks

Some dots for eyes, pink lips and eyebrows next

Now some clear matte gel and a boatload of glitter

And you have a miffed snowball!

Or a worried snowball

If I were a snowball I'd be worried. Who wants to be tossed about and smashed to smithereens! Never mind the bloody cold. Poor wee things.

Heh heh heh - I have no idea what I would do with them either, but that doesn't detract from how awesome they are! I love seeing projects on craftster that come from ideas so different from anything I would think of.

They're great, totally adorable!  You could wrap a scarf around them as a centerpiece, or even arrange them in a pyramid as if you were preparing for a snowball fight.  You've got a real knack for facial expression.  Kudos - this ROCKS!

These are so cute.  They look like snowballs with attitude to me.  They are adorable.  You could probably do just about anything with them.  Hang them in your tree, put them on your mantel (if you had one) on your dining table or just on your coffee table.  They surely will be a conversation piece.  They turned out wonderful.

Are they heavy?

They would be sweet paperweights if so, or awesome ornaments if they aren't

Actually they are super light. The base is just a Styrofoam ball and it's covered with paper mache.

Well, if this does not inspire somebody to set up a society for the ethical treatment and general protection of snowballs, I don't know what will...
I mean, just look at their little worried faces (or heads, or bodies, I'm not quite clear on snowball anatomy actually)

New Year??? We still haven't got to Christmas yet.
For paperweight value...stick a large fishing weight in the "butt" part. That should do the job.  Grin Close it over with a piece of paper, or felt?
These are very cute. I love the expressions, too.
I like the ornament idea, or just put in a dish on the table. If you don't mind people handling them...not sure how secure your glitter stuff is on them. But if they are sitting out, most people would not know "HANDS OFF!" I have that problem with my projects. Label it "WET PAINT" and everyone wants to touch! Grin I don't know why that is.

~T

Another queen of afterthought...You can seal with a clear seal spray. To keep the glitter coat on. I use Formby's. I think I spelled that right...nope, but you can find it in the hardware section of your stores. I think there is an extra "e" in there...for the spelling. That stuff is great!
