This is the first time that an idea has really taken hold enough for me to get it together and enter a challenge. It was a real blast to come up with the idea and see if I could make it really happen. My additional criteria was that it had to be something that I would really want/use regardless of the challenge.
So, I had this idea of votive holders from soda/pop cans. Having to have a food item took me down a couple of paths and when I found the peppers, I knew immediately that I could use Kokopelli as my muse.
Without further ado, I present my pair of votive candles/candle holders -- for $5.39

with the lights on, so you can see they are a pair of pop cans, with baby food jars as votive cups, with a scooby-doo candle melted into each one.

For the formalities,
Here are the supplies before I started - as you can see I have a whole bunch of peppers left and four more pops.

and the receipt.

The only home supplies I used were (1) a dab of glue to hold on the peppers, and (2) the little piece of yarn to bind the peppers.
The can printing was removed with steel wool (I did it while the cans were still full and unopened -- they were too wonky once opened to be able to apply the kind of pressure you need). The images were drawn on paper and I stuck them to the can with a glue stick - and then lightly cleaned them with a brillo to get rid of the sticky when done). I cut them out with a pair of cuticle scissors.
Couple of more shots -- full front and full back
