So, I'm not sure if this would be the right topic to plead for some help...

My art teacher (who was one of my favorite teachers ever) has recently been having some health problems.  She will be undergoing surgery on Monday that will, best case, leave her a quadrapalegic, worst case, will be cancer and she will have only months to live.  She is one of the biggest personalities I have ever known, the epitomy of "artsy fartsy art teacher"  She has touched so many lives.  and now I'm running on...

I only have a few days to put something together for her.  I have been contacting the former students that I remember.  ( I graduated in 1994...but she and I have stayed in touch and I have been helping her with a community art project.)  I'm collecting notes and art pieces as well as adding my own positive affirmations.  I would like to put it together in a book, box, journal, shrine; something cool for her to take to her surgery and have through her recovery.  Since she's an art teacher I want something cool and unique...but I only have a little time.

Any thoughts?  Help!

Thanks in advance!

You're so sweet to think of her during such a difficult time! If you have any flat pieces of art that she helped you with, pictures of her projects, or pictures of anything thta remind you of her, you could take it to a photo store or even a place like Wal-mart and have them print them on a blanket or pillow for when she's in recovery, something she can physically and mentally take comfort in while she's in bed. Or maybe piece together a vase out of uncomon objects for her bedside, she'll probably be getting a lot of flowers. Good luck!

have everyone ink up their hand and put it on archival paper.  They can pray while touching the paper and she can always hold their hand so to speak.   Or have them put their inked/painted hands on a blanket...so when she wraps it around her, it is a "laying on of hands".

God bless...and I will keep your friend in my prayers.

I don't have any suggestions, but I do like the idea of a photo quilt. She would be able to wrap herself in your love. Good luck to you and her.
