I found the coolest silicone skull-shaped ice cube trays and thought a fun twist would be to make skull-shaped jello jiggler type shots for my Halloween party this year.
Has anyone tried this?  Have a good recipe?

i don't have a recipe but agar is a fab vegan friendly gelling/setting agent, it's made from seaweed, the packet usually tells you how to make it up, just remember to add a bit more for alco

I've made jello shots a few times with vegan gelatin mixes I bought off of veganessentials.com
And the best part is that vegan jello sets super fast! I'm talking they start setting as soon as you make them.  Smiley

I'll have to go by the natural food store nearby to see if they have mixes.  Thanks poseursteph for the tip about it setting up fast.  I used agar once without a recipe and just had no luck at all, but I miss the silliness of Jell-O, time to give it another try!  I can't wait.

I wonder if alcohol effects the results at all...

You can also go to asian supermarkets and buy packets of "agar-agar". The directions aren't going to be as clear by a long shot, but it's cheap enough that you can buy a lot and experiment (and have fun experimenting?) I know alcohol makes the gel set up more loosely, and agar-agar tends to set differently, more firmly than gelatin, so that might actually turn out better.
