Hmmm, wasn't quite sure where to put this one so I'll put it here unless someone suggests otherwise...

I was partnered with the one and only rackycoo for the Altoid Tin Halloween Swap so I knew I had to pull out all the stops to create something as fantabulous as I possibly could. I decided to turn my wee Altoid tin into a haunted house...

Unfortunately the stupid cat decided to jump off during delivery so he didn't arrive intact. Here's the back, inside and the goodies packed within....

P.S. Thanks racky for letting me swipe your pics!

There's no way I'll be able to put this away after Halloween. It will have to be a year-round display.  Grin

Incredible, incredible job.  It looks so good.  I love how that cat looks real climbing down the roof.  Wow. Love the shingles. Heck everything is incredible.  Sorry for repeating myself.  You simply did a great job.

Shocked **speechless**  Shocked

What kinds of materials did you use for your embellishments? This is insanely cool.

The tin is papered with one of the many books I keep around for tearing up then 'stained' with paint to age it a bit. The roof and door are made of wood that I forced my husband to cut for me. The roof trim, doorknob and door hinges are from the dollar store sold as photocorners. The windows are little frames sold for charm bracelets (also from the dollar store). The coin is from a long past trip to the UK (I still have a coin purse full of change from that trip!) The cat was a shrinky-dink. The curtains were cut up from tea-dyed lace. The chimney I made from paper clay. Lastly, the ruler is just a paper one I picked up from Ikea Smiley

On the inside... the witches hats are made of leather, and their wands are sewing needles. I've also used paper, glitter, ribbon, a star button and lace.

Phew! I think that's it.

knickertwist hasn't received mine yet, reese52. We're hoping on Monday. Little warning, though: it's not as great as this one. You'll have to check out the gallery anyway, though, because phizzy and I ended up using some of the same paper, but our tins still look very different.

Knickertwist, even my girls (who sometimes enjoy making fun of me and my tins, I don't know why!  Cheesy) thought this tin was amazing!

Ha! Sometimes when I talk to people about crafting... like to my mother, or my boss... they get this far away look in their eyes and and I know I've lost them Cheesy Or they will ask "Yeah, but what's it for?" I'm pretty certain that my kid will join this category when he's older. He's only 5 at the mo' so I don't get the full on taunting just yet... but I'm sure it's coming.

This is so amazing, I've been telling people about it all day. I have to know more about how you did it: is it wood you've used? I'm just fascinated!

Thanks! The roof is wood. I think its called balsa wood and you can buy it from crafting stores. I just cut out a template for my hubby to cut out (I'm useless with a saw) and then glued the pieces together then glued completed wooden roof to the tin (which I had already covered with paper).

All the little bits and bobs that decorate it are just from the dollar store... the windows are charms with the hoops cut off, the edging is made from brads that have the pokey bits removed, the 'ruler' is just a paper one they give out at Ikea (I always steal a bunch when I'm there).
