a group of friends in australia are hiring a lakefront house this weekend for our Annual Craftastic Lock in

knitkitty

My mum runs a craft group at her church and every year, they go away for a weekend and have people come in and teach classes.  I usually go down just for the saturday and learn something (I've done oil painting, mosaic and book making) but this year, I'm teaching printmaking. So exciting! I'm going to try to sneak in some felting as well, but my mum's best friend is teaching the class, so I'm sure she'll teach me some other time.

It's such a nice way to hang out and learn stuff and be inspired by people. There are some amazing artists and craftspeople in the group (there are about 120 people signed up for this year's camp, which is on in three weeks). Plus, it's really cheap. All of the classes include the materials and are around the $10 - 15 mark.

I'm usually the only person under 30, but it's a lot of fun when the ladies get away from their husbands and kids for a weekend. Plus, I get to hang with my mum.

Hawaiilove - I was going to wait because if I send the July one now, it means that Kellie will get two packages this month (Yay!) but nothing in July (boo!). I'll see how my restraint goes!
