I found a sweater at the thrift store and liked the yarn, so I frogged it a year or so ago, and it's been sitting around.  I thought this pattern was quite cute and it made gauge, so a nice way to destash!

Pattern:  DROPS 103-1 Cardigan http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_nr=103&d_id=1&lang=us
Yarn: Mystery stash yarn
Cast on: July 24, 2008
Finished: September 28, 2008 (I worked on many other projects during this time period)

Mods:
I knit this in one piece up to the armholes.
I didn't want the bottom as wide as in the pattern, so I cast on fewer stitches.
I added 2 inches to the body length.
I picked up and did short row sleeve caps and worked them down in the round.  I love this method of doing sleeves, although I end up doing a bit of frogging since it's a guessing game for me.

I have all of my notes and would be happy to share if anyone is interested.

PICS!!

That looks so professional and beautiful!! I agree, the yarn was worth saving Smiley I wonder what the original sweater looked like? Smiley

I love what you did with this pattern! I casting on fewer stitches and increasing the length did wonders for it. It looks fantastic.

Thanks all for such nice comments!  I should have taken pictures of the sweater before I frogged it - it was a very large handknit sweater that appeared to have never been worn.  I just thought that the yarn deserved a new life.  I actually have made a hat and scarf set, this sweater, and probably have enough left over for another scarf with that one sweater's worth of yarn.
