This is a weeping willow tree that I made from silver floral wire and some pretty iridescent glass tear drop beads. It's attached to a rock that I got at my local aquarium store. The person there called it "Utah Ice" but I have no idea if that's the actual name! I'd love to hear your comments and critiques! Smiley

littlebiskit,

Thanks so much! Glad you like it! It's about 7 inches tall, from the bottom of the rock to the top of the tree.

It's lovely.  I've been seeing forms like these at mineral shows for many years but this is the first time I've seen one that really struck me.  kudos!

"Utah Ice" is a form of gypsum.  To you aquarium lovers, do like Amy and craft with it, since it will eventually erode - it's water soluble - and harden the water as well!

Thanks so much for the compliment!

Also, I really appreciate knowing what my rock is! It's interesting that an aquarium store would have something that wouldn't be very safe in aquariums. (I've never owned fish. I just go to the store for the rocks Tongue) But I did wonder what it was. It looks kinda like quartz, but I knew it wasn't that because it was flaking off a little around the edges. I'd never heard of gypsum, but I looked it up. You learn something new every day, right? Thanks again!

Thanks so much Steelygaze, freestyle, jenicat, and Eliea!!!

Eliea, I actually don't have a pattern for this one at all. I made each branch by feel and just kinda put them together pretty, from top to bottom. Smiley My trees and flowers are always more about understanding nature than keeping to a pattern (though I do use patterns at times!)
