I am sooooooo pleased with how this turned out, as soon as this challenge was announced I knew exactly what I was going to do.

An explanation on the name - Jeannie Little is an Australian comedic icon - and she is well known for her ability to turn "strange" items into clothing.  Garbage bags being among her favourites.  I was unable to find pics of her fantastic plastic creations, but they where good.

My items that where used

2 packets of white bin liners
1 packet of coloured bin liners
2 packets of cleaning cloths
a roll of cling wrap (which I didn't end up using)
and for my food item  cake decorating cachous

Total spend $12-02 or $10-59 without the clingwrap

Craft room extras, Zip, elastic, glue gun, and the sewing machine.  Oh and two bobby pins for the veil

My reciept - minus my banking details of course

My Items

Now that I have all the formalities out of the way we can get onto the pics

The front

The back

Close up of the roses on the veil and the cachous diamonte brooch on the corset

The skirt is made from the white bin liners and flows and rustles beautifully, tho the wind catches them so easily.  The corset is made from the dishclothes and the green bin liners with a cachous diamonte brooch in the middle.  The train is connected to the skirt and is made from the green bin liners.  The veil is white bin liners, the roses are made from the melted offcuts from the skirt and worked out perfectly, the veil is embellished with the cachous.  And just for fun a bunch of bin liner blooms, for the bride to carry.

We had so much fun taking these pics, tho not a windy day, the slightest breeze had the skirt and veil all over the place.  At one point I had to assist my model from the suffocating veil that had wrapped itself around her entire face. We had chooks chasing her, she must have sounded like the scrap bag, and same went for the horses.  The local Agriculture show is coming up in a few weeks and I am going to also enter this in the craft section.

Hope you have enjoyed this entry and don't forget to vote

OK, so I'm sitting up late, nursing a tummy ache and a bad attitude, then your amazing-wonderful-awesome-surprisingly beautiful dress actually makes me giggle out loud. I feel better.

Thank you!

There's not a single thing here that I could not love.

Especially the chook reference.

I love that too! And the mint scented bags! I love the flow of the skirt and the way the colors work together. If I ever renew my vows, I'm calling you up.

ok, seriously, i have been freaking out a bit about getting all the sh!+ together for my diy wedding, plus managing to pay for it all.  if you can make this amazing thing out of trashbags, i can make something relatively tolerable out of all my fabric.

you challenge entry folks really make it hard to decide which project to vote for.

That is too cute!  You have great creativity and imagination...if you don't make it at your day job, you can always design and make green (earth friendly/recycled item) dresses.   Wink

I love that the green bin liners are mint scented, so you can smell fresh and clean for the wedding! lol

Let me just say one thing about mint scented bags. Yuck - tho at first it was tolerable after hitting them with some heat (aka iron) and handling them for the construction the smell was horrible.  My hands and craft room room smelt very minty for days afterwards

I loooove the bustle-y train back, it's a great colour.
What a great back!  I love how it's not the traditional all white wedding gown!

The back is my fav bit as well, and I wanted to use different colours in the construction as well.  I figured that with an all white dress, that you wouldn't be able to see much detail.  The cloths used for the corset actually have a geen logo printed on them (on the inside 0f the corset) but you can faintly see it through the fabric (close up) so that is where the inspiration for the colour came from

D-a-a-a-h-h-h-ling  - even Jeannie would be impressed!!!

Oh I hope so - lol

Thanks everyone for the positive comments and of course don't forget to vote

I love this, too!  Great job on all of the details - the brooch, the beautiful train, the photography!

Especially the chook reference.

And the chook reference sent me straight back to Marsden's Tomorrow When the War Began.  I love that book!
