Craft Challenge #32 - DIY Halloween Costumes - Due Nov 1 - Nov 5 2008

11/12/08 - The winner has been chosen!

CONGRATS to sjeanette for her entry entitled "Where the Wild Things Are (and Max!)"!

Click below to see the full thread:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=276644.0

The blog entry about this challenge can be found here:
http://www.craftster.org/blog/?p=199

Update - 11/7/08 - Time to Vote! Scroll way up for the poll! We got the most entries ever for this contest. 215 of them. Woah! Since it might be impossible to look at all of them, you might want to click this link below which automatically sorts the entries by number of replies so you can see which ones have gotten the most reactions and buzz:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=412.0;sort=replies;desc

Update - 11/1/08 - Time to enter your costume. To do this, start a new topic in this new folder here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=412.0

Remember a couple of years ago when we had a Halloween costume contest? Remember all of the unbelievable entries? Remember the winner - Mr. and Mrs. Monsterface?

Well, let's do it again! If you are crafting up your own costume this year, we invite you to snap some pics and share them with us.

  • The costume you enter must have some handmade components and it must be a costume you are making for this year and not pics of costumes from past years.
  • If you are making a costume for someone else, and not for yourself to wear, that's fine and dandy to enter it but just remember that you can only have one entry in this contest.
  • If you are making a set of multiple costumes for multiple people that all go together via some theme, you can enter them together as one entry.

Rules:

  • Post your craft during the period of Nov 1 - Nov 5 2008. No sooner. No later. On Nov 1 there will be a special folder created for entries.
  • Voting will happen from Nov 6 - Nov 12 2008.
  • Each participant can enter ONE project. (Although your entry can have multiple components to it.)

Originality:

It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original and has never been posted on Craftster or made by anyone else in the past.  But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, then just give credit to that project.

Prizes:

At the end, I'll set up a poll right here and the first place winner will get...

(1) their project in the Featured Projects area
(2) their project in the Craftster Blog

And this prize (winner can receive prize in U.S. or non-U.S.):

Any one item from Craftster's Spreadshirt Shop!

Spreadshirt is a print-on-demand service and the items they create look absolutely amazing. Craftster's Spreadshirt Shop has Craftster's knitting, crochet, and scissors skully designs on a variety of products AND you can choose whatever text you want to have appear on the item! If you're curious as to how they look in real life, check out what some other Craftsters have ordered here.

Sweet, I already have a project for this. My sister came up with an idea for her Halloween costume this year and I'm going to make it for her...now I just have to find time to sew.  Undecided

Perfect timing. I'm swearing at McCall's patterns--yes, again!--as I make a tailcoat with page 3 of the instructions missing. I'm a decent seamstress, but no tailor, and I'm at a bit of a loss.

I'll win if the tails are just stapled on, or held with masking tape, right?  Wink

Oh, I cannot wait!! I'm currently in the building process of part of my costume, I want to finish it this weekend, before I go home for surgery...... my boyfriend and I are doing an odd twist on a couples-type costume, though mine will be mostly hand made and his will be pieced together from thrift store and eBay goods. Oooh I'm so excited! I just ordered my costume from eBay but my friend wants me to make costumes for her 2 kids. I have about ten pictures of stick figures "wearing" costumes on a notebook page.

Oooh excellent, I've already started on my halloween costume, it's not really "out there" so highly unlikely to get many votes but I shall enter nonetheless Smiley  Shall probably be making Mr Loops an awesome costume too though it's not along the same theme (unless you count colour scheme as we'll both be largely wearing/painted the same colour!) so I probably couldn't get away with putting both of our costumes in the one entry I guess.

Awesomeness!  I may have to enter my costume.  Once I narrow down what I want to make!  Huh
