I had my son lay down on a piece of cardboard to trace him. which was quite difficult considering he's extremely ticklish. Then I tried to straighten up the lines and amke it symmetrical, my dad cut out the shape in a piece of plywood for me, b/c i have no saw, or plywood for that matter!

I sanded the edges, cut out some foam, and fabric like so...

TaDaa!! Once I got the hang of the electric stapler it wasn't too hard. (but be careful if using an electric stapler, their the crafty equivalent of a machine gun... Seriously!! make sure kids can't reach it if you turn your back!)

The blue one is Jersey Knit fabric which was much easier to stretch around the corners and staple down, but I suppose that depends on your level of expertise at upholstering.

This looks great!! I might try making one of these...we don't have an electric staple gun though. But I think it looks really professional as a display for a craft fair or something similar. (and that fabric is CUTE!)

Thanks, I don't think the staple gun needs to be electric. This electric one I was using made me kinda nervous b/c it's basically like a gun if it's on and plugged in you can shoot a staple fairly easily with a lot of force. and this one kept spitting out like 2 or 3 when i pulled the trigger.

But the non-electric ones should work fine, or maybe even those upholstery tacks if you can make it look pretty.

This is soooo cool!  I've been considering buying a dress form to show off hand knit scarves and this one fits the bill so much better - with a considerably less price tag!!!

Great! I'd love to see yours when you make it!!

The great part is that you can make it any shape for whatever you need, for scarfs you could make it just a neck and shoulders.
