My Signature Recycled Bag

Here is a round plarn (plastic bag yarn) rug I crocheted. This rug is worked in the round doing half double crochet stitches.

I tried to use different colors of recycled plastic bags to create an earth tone look. These plastic rugs do make excellent boot and doormat rugs as you can just rinse them off to clean them. Then just hang to dry -- don't put it in the dryer as the plastic will melt. Here is the free pattern link if you want to crochet this rug. http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2008/09/27/recycled-round-plarn-rug/

So pretty! The earth tones are lovely. I'm impressed you were able to make such a gentle color gradation with plarn. The only things I've made from plastic bags end up all random and raggedy looking.

This does look really great, I'm so envious of your skills with the plarn.  I love working with plarn, I wish people made more colors of plastic bags though, like the blue ones walmart had way back in the day.

Aww, you always make such cool stuff!  Love the earth tones.  But do tell....when the plarn gets wet, does the printing on the bags come off onto the floor it sits on?  I've always been afraid to use "plarn" because I saw this happen on my own kitchen floor once with a plastic grocery bag that got wet.  Never have been able to get that pink mark offa the floor.

I have not had any problems with the bags getting wet and staining anything but I did conduct a test today. I took one brown Safeway bag and two different white bags and let them sit in my white sink wet. I later checked and no stains or ink ran from any of the bags onto my white sink. While I can't speak for all bags, these bags did not stain my white surface.
