Is it possible to use a spring form cake pan for regular cake?  Maybe line the bottom of it with wax paper to keep the batter from leaking?  Have any of you tried this?

I've never done it, but I don't see why you couldn't. 

It should work just fine (I may even have recipes that encourage this).

Thank you for your advice.  I need a small pan for a cake topper, and I didn't want to buy a new one.  My smallest spring form should work fine.
