Tongue Jenicat loves being the swap god - deciding all of our fates!  Grin

For all those still thinking about joining, not sure if they can swing it - DO IT! This isnt a large obligation swap, and you KNOW you can think of 4 dozen different projects that you can make.  My main problem right now is deciding which items to craft, and if I should swing a lil out of my comfort zone or not.

I've been out picking fir cones from a very small fir tree.  I'm learning the difference between pine cones, fir cones, and cedar cones.

I have also just harvested my first pine needles, for pine needle baskets.  This is going to be my newest craft.

Ooh, pinokeeo, that sounds so fun.  I watched the Carol Duvall show one time when they did a spotlight on a lady who made baskets out of pine needle bundles... it was really interesting to watch, and something I'd love to try if I ever thought I'd have the patience to complete one... Smiley  Pine needles aren't things I just want lying around the house.  Heh.

I used to live by a huge pine tree "forest" - they were man-planted as a barrier between two neighborhoods.  Walking through there in canvas shoes without socks as a kid was so irritating.  Needles in your feet... not exactly PAINFUL, but certainly uncomfortable.  Smiley

I'm actually taking a class on Oct 25 from a local indian woman, so that I can learn how to make the baskets.  We have the trees, so I feel like I need to do this.  Otherwise, the needles just sit on the ground.  Not exactly a bad thing, but this way I get to do something new.  I've been collecting the needles in a little apple basket, so I'll have enough to do something.

The teacher says we can actually complete a basket in four hours.

And you're right.  They are not fun to walk on.
